Smaller, scaled, sculptural porcelain forms influenced by nature. This work references single celled organisms and natural objects found on land and in water, shapes and forms relating to the real world, symbolic of the microscopic world. They are fragile, yet have delicate strength. Matte surfaces create a contrast with shine on surfaces. Some are seen as larger spatial compositions installed on a wall, often in response to the space occupied.

Small sculptural forms influenced by natural objects and objects of pro-generation; engaging, interacting, affecting and suggesting potential, sometimes combining to create "landscapes". They stack, interact, and create a narrative in the process. Unglazed clay creates a contrast with the shine or color of glazed surfaces. Some surfaces sharp and foreboding, others smooth and inviting.

These sculptures consist of groupings of objects reflecting my fascination with shapes and forms seen at the microscopic level, such as the soft concave disks of blood cells, the spiky sharp spheres of pollen.

Small pieces combine to create stacked, organic, sculptural forms based on seeds, pods, mystical objects. They are hand-built: pinched, slip trailed, carved and handled. Some glaze and underglaze used but often allowing exposed clay to remain unglazed.

Forms based on seedpods and found natural objects. They may be familiar at times, but not recognizable. Hand-built from single and multiple pinched forms combined, most are left unglazed.

Works done as collaborations with ceramic artist Donna Webb. We have been making sculptural ceramic installations, often in response to a particular location, inspired by science and observation, microscopic forms and natural selection. Objects that we each make and combine in our installations move over a surface, exploring the spaces between and relationships created.

Images of work in the raw. I love the look of the soft and leather-hard clay, and find that the process of making and handling drives new ideas for future work.
